Two heat maps on one floor plan show where a lot of material is handled and which transport routes carry the heaviest load.
What is a material flow heat map?
A material flow heat map shows material movement directly on the hall layout. It shows which places handle the most and which aisles or transport routes carry the heaviest load.
The analysis runs on your movement data from Excel and on the aisle network stored with the plan. Real transport routes are used, not straight lines.
What can you analyse?
You can show material flows by piece count, carriers, trips or distance driven.
On top of that you can tell incoming, outgoing and total flow apart. That shows which places take material in, give it out or are passed through most heavily.
Carriers and trips are rounded up to whole units for every row of data.
Common questions
What data do I need for a material flow heat map?
You need a transport matrix with source, sink and quantity. Material, carrier, means of transport and capacity data are optional and let you analyse trips and transport effort as well.
Can I analyse piece counts and trips separately?
Yes. You can analyse material quantities, carriers, trips and distances driven separately. That shows, for instance, where large quantities are moved and where many trips arise.
Do I need a CAD program?
No. You can upload an existing hall plan as a PDF or an image and work on it directly in the browser.
A known reference line sets the scale. After that you draw sections, aisles and places directly on the hall plan.
